Raleigh Sports - Fixed Gear - 58cm - Early 70's (NE 15th & Dekum) $400
I bought this bicycle for my summer stay, and must sell it now before I leave - a pity, because it's a fantastic bike. Classic Raleigh quality road bike frame from the early 70's. Super lightweight lugged steel, painted gold. The paint is a little dinged up in spots but is otherwise in great riding condition.
I put a Specialized Indie 143 racing saddle on it because the saddle I bought it with was dreadful.
The gear ratio is 42/14, which I've found to be about perfect for Portland's terrain.

This is a great bike for young kids to get experience using hand brakes. It's a fixed gear bike with foot brake (pedal backwards) and a single hand brake. Good for kids ages 5-9 (of average height).

If you are considering getting an old frame for SS/fixed conversion, I urge you to reconsider and buy this bike instead. Conversions are notoriously troublesome unless the dropouts are perfectly horizontal, and most of the so-called "vintage" frames from the 70s and 80s have slightly vertically inclined dropouts. The Dawes has a sturdy reputation as a solid entry-level SS/fixie bike that was manufactured SPECIFICALLY FOR SS/FIXED. Let those beautiful old bikes rust with dignity--with their components intact!
I have upgraded a few things (the wheel set, saddle, and seat post)- nothing crazy but I've put a couple hundred dollars into it. I have recently cleaned and oiled it since I haven't ridden it for a few months.
The more I think about it, maybe you should go with the old steel, cottered, clunker conversion instead and let me keep my Dawes. Fixed Gear - Soma Rush - 55cm (SE Hawthorne) $550

Very nice fixed gear from SanFran's Soma Fabrications. Steel track frame with horizontal drop outs, mostly black with some nice deep purple/silver details. 55cm, which is just great for me at 5'11". Super light rig, rides like a dream.
Stored indoors for it's entire life, has a few purely cosmetic nicks to the paint job from being locked up all over town. Pretty easy gearing (42/18), freakin flies uphill (undefeated against many a carbon fiber racing bike!), and has great acceleration/breaking, but leaves you mashing a bit on big downhills. Nice double toe straps keep you locked in, great looking bars and grips (from Portland Design Works).
Components:
Wheels: Velocity Rims (front laced to a no name black hub, rear to a silver), Vittorio Rubino Tires (Red), both skewers are bolted on
Brakes: Front brake only, a Shimano 105 with a Tektro Rx 2.0 lever
Cockpit: Soma Later Riser bars and BEAUTIFUL Portland Design Works Speed Metal Grips (red), all black stem, AHeadset headset
Saddle: Masi saddle (Black/Silver) on a Soma seatpost
Drivetrain: Sugino RD 5000 cranks, black no name pedals, black double toe clips (All-City) and straps (Soma). Running a 42 tooth chainring with a 18 tooth cog.
Bonus: Some homemade spoke cards that look pretty sweet, red bar tape on top tube to protect from handlebar dings.

I have a few extra accessories that may interest as well, a Top Tube pad (red) and some nice Major Taylor track style bars (with red tape). $10 for the pad and $25 for the bars.
